If you’re looking forward to filing your Federal Income taxes this year in hopes of getting a large return with the help of the Earned Income Credit and the Child Tax Credit, expect a delay in receiving your refund. The regular tax season starts January 23rd, but a new law requires the IRS to delay the returns of those claiming those credits until February 15th. The ETA for refunds filed as soon as tax season starts is looking as though it will fall some time at the end of February with 3 weeks being the average processing time. Some reports however suggest that it may delay the refunds closer to a month.
