As almost all of you have heard, Toys R Us and Babies R Us are both closing and has already begun liquidation sales. Many of us ran to stores, not knowing what to expect. There are some pretty important updates to liquidation sales and policies and below we have put together a guide to help you. Yesterday a few of our bloggers went to their local Toys R Us where sales are a measly 30% to 50% Off. Some of our members have reported their stores being more than that- up to 75% Off.
As of Right now ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Toys R Us will not be accepting any returns.
You will need to make sure the item you buy is not broken or missing pieces before you buy.
ALL STORES MUST CLOSE BY JUNE
But your store could close earlier if they sell their inventory. All Stores are getting new inventory often
ONLINE STORE WILL REMAIN OPEN FOR A FEW WEEKS
Toys R Us is moving their inventory in the warehouse to Toys R Us stores to sell. Don’t be surprised if you see delivery trucks bringing in new products. We also do NOT expect these clearance sales to show online. It seems Toys R Us still wants to maintain high prices.
GIFT CARDS MUST BE USED BY APRIL 21
Any unused amount can not be redeemed for cash.
NO NEW REGISTRIES OR ONLINE WISHLISTS
Those with a registry already can continue to use it, however the website can shut down at any time.
NO COUPONS ACCEPTED
Toys R Us will not honor any coupons online or in store. This includes coupons from Geoffry’s Birthday Club. Same thing applies for any loyalty reward points you earn. You can continue to earn reward points, but you can not redeem them.
LAYAWAY IS OVER
Those with a layaway account have just a few more days to pay off their layaway or try to get a refund. It has been reported by members that some stores will not give you the clearance prices for layaway items, however it is not everywhere.
TOYS R US HIRING??
Yes Toys R Us is hiring, making many people think that this is all a ruse. We have seen signs in our local store stating that Toys R Us is hiring, according to the signs, it seems that the stores need temporary help with liquidation sales.
CLEARANCE AND PRICES VARY
I have seen posts in our groups and from other blogs showing 75% or less. Ours here is only 30%. It seems sales vary by store too. The one thing I will say on this is SCAN SCAN SCAN! Prices may drop in the system without the price tag on the item reflecting that. Always scan.
But WAIT ISN’T AMAZON BUYING TOYS R US??
No, this is just a rumor. Amazon does however want to buy the physical locations of some Toys R Us stores but only for the property.
BUT THERE IS A GOFUNDME, SOMEONE WILL BUY TOYS R US
Don’t be so sure on that. While there is an official Go Fund Me account set up through Isaac Larian, the CEO of MGA Entertainment who is trying to raise 1 Billion and currently has $200,053,000 raised so far, we have no idea what is going on from that. The goal from that Go Fund Me “The donations will be used in the formulation of a bid to acquire all or some Toys“R”Us assets through the bankruptcy process.” As of today 5/11/18 Issac Larian lost the bid to buy Toys R Us Stores- There is no saving it now
