Remember this story ? Look over those candy bags or a great deal isn’t really a great deal! Tons of consumers got shorted last year!
If you were one of many who got in on this awesome Mars Candy Deal at Walgreens
These Mars 17.90 ounce bags of candy are leaving a sour taste in many people’s mouths this morning. Many are reporting 40 pieces NOT being in the bag. Rather, they are finding 36-38 in each bag. While some may think a few pieces short in a couple bags is not a big deal, I encourage you to look at the bigger picture here.
One reader purchased 18 bags of this candy and 80% of her bags were short. That’s 14 bags being short an average of 3 pieces. If 80% off all bags produced this season were short an average of 3 pieces that is 2400 pieces of candy unaccounted for every 1000 bags. Basically they are overcharging for 60 bags per thousand made they did not sell. This adds up them collecting money for THOUSANDS of bags they did not sell. While this may not seem like a big deal to some (especially if you got in on this glitch it was so inexpensive) remember most consumers are NOT couponers. They will pay between $5-$7 per bag. Not getting all you paid for just isn’t right.
That just doesn’t sit well with me. Check your candy bags. Don’t take them back to Walgreens, they are merely the seller. I urge you to contact Mars directly at 1-800-651-2564 and let them know this is not ok. Some readers have reported being promised high value coupons as compensation.
