Starbucks is the best frenemy I have. It’s simultaneously delicious to drink and painful to pay for. That pain is about to get even higher, though. They’ve admitted that they are about to raise their prices yet again. This is actually not a huge surprise; they usually raise their prices nominally every year around July.
What is problematic is that Starbucks was forced to admit to the impending price hike only AFTER customers at dozens of stores had already been charged the higher price. The new prices weren’t supposed to go into effect until July 12th, but many were charged the higher rate much earlier. The company released a statement saying the “price adjustment was prematurely entered into the point of sale systems in our U.S. company-operated charge.”
If you think you’ve been overcharged, Starbucks is encouraging you to call customer service at 1-800-782-7282. They have now corrected the error, so you won’t see higher prices until July 12.
